Sit upright and relaxed, cross-legged, on the floor. If you choose to sit on a chair, place your feet a little apart from each other, without shoes. Rest your hands palms open and upward on your lap.
The following technique is a basic exercise for reaching the state of meditation which is known as thoughtless awareness. This technique is very useful for training the mind and going beyond it.
Take a deep breath, hold it for a couple of seconds and release it. Do not rush. Take your time and repeat for 7 times. While doing this, put your attention just on your breathing.
After that, place your right hand 2-3 inches (3-4 cm) above your head palm facing towards your head and see if you feel any cool or warm breeze in your right palm. Switch your hand and try the same thing with your left hand.
Keep your attention on top of your head and try to be thoughtless for a couple of minutes. It may be difficult for some of you, but be patient. Do not follow your thought just watch them. After a short while you will see that you become thoughtless.
