My son and I have been doing SMY for about 6 weeks now. He meditates three times a day with a foot soak in the afternoon and meditation for about 10 mins about 1 hour after the soak. He has ADHD and severe allergies. His not eating on mornings were creating anxieties for me and I surrendered him to GOD about 2 days ago. ie he’s GOD’s child living in my house and I will feed him and look after his needs whilst GOD will take care of the rest. Today I tucked him into bed at 8:30 and has witnessed him trying his best to sleep but to no avail! Its now 10:51 pm and he’s still awake. On several occassions I told him to ask Mother Kundalini to allow him to sleep, he did this and nothing happened! I snuggled him for awhile, tried my meditation came back and he’s still awake! I said try meditation because I’m not sure what happened but I couldn’t meditate, now matter how hard I tried thoughts kept flowing. I prayed to Lord Ganesh to remove the obstacles, I prayed to Shri Mataji and nothing! Since its Navratri, I’ve been offering hawan on mornings and doing my meditation and I really sad because I felt like no one’s listeningcry

Dear maharmm,

I just felt to share with you that my <3 year old daughter also had an unsettled day today. Children are particularly sensitive to vibrational changes in the atmosphere and I feel that it was a very powerful 2nd day of Navaratri. We simply may not be conscious of the cosmic forces causing changes around us, making us feel unsettled. However these changes are to uplift us spiritually and I hope that you and your son will feel much better during the rest of Navaratri.

All our support,

Hello Maharmm,

I also just wanted to respond to this as well – it sounds like you are doing everything right. I would just keep doing what you are doing and I am sure despite your troubles yesterday that things will continue to improve for you and your son.

This may sound strange but my 8-month old son was also unsettled yesterday – much fussier than normal during the day, and was waking up at night tossing and turning (also unusual for him). It can also help to know that we are going through these things together. I hope today was better for you. Please let us know how things progress.

All the best,

Thank you Joanne and Sarah for your support. I hoping it was a one off day cause I haven’t seen it since! I was feeling frustrated becasue typically when he looses sleep he’s very hyper! What was interesting is that he got no more than 4 hours of sleep, went to school the next day and was surprisingly calm, truly a miracle. Another miracle was I was playing Jyoti Bindu (Bramha Kumari song) on Sunday morning and he was singing it and then asked me to play it again later in the day! This morning he was singing Shreya Goshal’s Om Namah Shivaya in the car!! Also my one year old who says only a few words is saying Ammmm and I know its for Aum, cause he smiles and points to the picture! I’m truly blessed to have found this website and to meet your souls along my path! Thank yousmile

Dear friend,

I wanted to say this earlier, but felt like the time wasn’t right, so I thought I’d wait for a few days and see what happens :). It seems like you already figured it out on your own, which is even better, but just as a reminder and sort of summary :).

What we think about how things should be and what is the best for us, our children, etc., is not always so, and most of the time does not come from our Spirit. Our Spirit only enjoys, it watches what happens and feels love. It does not have expectations and does not make judgements (this is good, or this is bad). It also does not force things by organizing them, rather it just lets them flow and work out, and enjoys whatever the process and the outcome. So a lot of our best-intentioned mental activity during the day comes from our ego and super-ego, not from our Spirit.

I know it’s easier said than done, but it might be a good idea to loosen up bit, and not get so frustrated when things don’t go “our way” or according to “our plan”. In the end, the Divine has Its own plan, and sometimes the more we try to have it our (correct and proper) way, the more we interfere with what Divine needs us to do or to be on that given day. Most likely we won’t know why your sun was not meant to sleep that night, and why he was kept wide awake, and yet from the outcome (which was just fine) we gather that it was OK, it was meant to be, and in the end did not interfere with his next day. So I’d say little less organizing and controlling, and little more fun and flexibility could be good.

Again, easier said than done – I’m quite a control-seeking perfectionist myself, so it’s taken me a few years to loosen up, and there’s still a long way to go :).

I’ve learned though, that the feeling of joy is the best test. If I’m not feeling joy – I’m not in the right state, and often that means it’s better to stop than to continue what I’m trying to push through :).

Wishing you a nice day,
