Hi there, I’m new to this site and the reason for subscribing is that I hope to get some advise on how to open the third eye. Is there a specific meditation I can find on this site?

Thank you beforehand,

Leo

Dear Leo,

there are a lot of misconceptions out there about what the third eye is and what it does.

We know in Sahaja yoga, that the Agya chakra inside our brain somehow reulates our mental activity, our ability to think, understand, to make judgements and decisions. It is a sort of an eye, but the one which it not supposed to be open outwards, we are not supposed to use it for looking through it at the outside world. Rather, it is supposed to give us an ability to look inwards, to introspect and to see the truth about ourselves. Many of the techniques out there that are claiming to be “opening the third eye” are actually damaging the Agya chackra, so please be carefull about them.

In the prectice of Sahaja yoga, the motherly Kundalini energy, when it rises upwards along the spine, also on its way gently opens the constricted Agya charka and then grants us a state of meditaton. However, this process is completely natural and spontaneous, there is nothing we have to do to achieve it besides forgiving everyone including ourselves, and the energy takes care of the rest. Normally, unless the Agya chakra have been previously damaged, it also happens right away when the Kundalini rises for the first time, so no need to use any special techniques. But again, this is very different from the other techniques that are forcing the Agya chakra to open in unnaural ways and damage it in the process.

Hope this comment is helpful, and wishing a safe and rewarding journey :).

Sincerely,

Mar’yana

Hello,

I’m new!

i’ve just tried out the first class and I enjoyed very much. I noticed a slight tingling sensation on my forehead, this third eye area. when I’ve meditated before this has happened, and also at other times. Sometimes it is a very strong sensation, once going right through to the back of my head. I’m not concerned about it because it always feel very pleasant. The criteria seems to be if I clear my mind of thoughts enough to just be present.

I’ve never had anyone to ask about what it is that’s actually going on. I’d appreciate your thoughts on it.smile

Thank you

Cedar

Dear friend,

The tingling in the area suggests that there is some imbalance there which is being cleared out by your Kundalini energy. As you meditate regularly and clean your system, this tingling should eventually disappear.

Sincerely,

Mar’yana
