Good morning from Donna in Audubon New Jersey. Came across this course by chance, as I know it was meant to be in my path. I am struggling with emotional and physical pain at this time. I am on course 3 and have found that my physical body and spiritual body are at odds on the increase since starting. I have come to realize this morning that my ego has decided she does not want to give up control. This is troubling. As I have read some other discourse this may be that I am forcing rather than allowing the process to take place. I see that I am able to intellectualize meaning and not able to feel. I am doing my best and want to do better. Thank you for allowing the sharing of progress in this forum. Kind words, thought and insight are always welcome. Joyous moments to all, Donna

Welcome, Donna, nice to meet you!

Yes, it sometimes happens that our ego is a bit cheeky, but you can’t fight it – you can never win, in fact, that is what it wants – to engage you in this superficial fight and to distract you from your deeper self. So the best recipe with ego is to joke about it and then not give it much of your attention. As long as you sit down for meditation regularly, just try to relax and enjoy it without expectations of it happening in a particular way, and without a pressure on yourself to “succeed” in meditation. Just taking it a step at a time, if it worked, that’s great, if it didn’t work today, that’s no big deal, you’ll try again tomorrow. Some days you just won’t be able to relax and give up that controlling attitude, and other days you will. Gradually it will become easier and more consistent. :)

Hope everything works our for you, and please do ask if any questions come up.
