Hello everyone,

I am brand new to meditation.  I am looking to be a more relaxed, aware, thoughtful person through meditative practices. I just went through class one, and I look forward to future classes.

-Jared

P.S.  I found myself having a hard time keeping my eyes completely closed during the guided meditation.  In fact, it was somewhat distracting.  Any tips on eliminating this issue?  Thanks in advance.

Dear Jared!

Welcome, and hope you enjoy the course smile

Quite a few people find it difficult at the beginning to meditate with closed eyes, the first few weeks when I started Sahaja yoga, I also quite often did not feel right to meditate with closed eyes. It’s ok, you can start by keeping your eyes open during meditation, as long as you don’t move them around too much and keep looking at something that has solid positive vibrations. The best would be if you can look at the photo of Shri Mataji – the founder of Sahaja yoga (you can see it on the right of the screen in each class). You will see that looking at the red dot on Shri Mataji’s forehead will settle you into meditation state much fasted and your thoughts will quiet down more effectively. You can start meditation with closed eyes when you feel comfortable.

Please keep in touch, and ask any question you have, we’ll try to do our best to answer. smile
