Dear eboni,
breathing is not really crucial to learning and enjoying this meditation.

Many people find it helpful to pay attention to their breathing and follow instructions about it, so that is why these suggestions about breathing are there.

There are some people, for whom following directions about breathing is more complicated than helpful (I was one of those people), in that case it is better to just ignore the breathing instructions, and keep attention inside instead of putting it on breathing. You will see eventually, that as you get into the meditative state, the breathing just slows down automatically on its own, you don’t have to do anything about it to get into meditation.

So, what i’m saying, don’t let small things like breathing stop you – the awakening of your inner energy is so much bigger than that, and it will gradually bring everything into balance, so you do not need to worry about this right from the very beginning. You will get the most benefit if you can put all your desire into this practice, but at the same time just relax as much as possible, and let your inner energy do the job. :)

Hope this is helpful,
Mar’yana
