A little while ago i started visiting a group of Sahaja Meditation Sessions. I wanted to find peace and rest in my mind after a rather difficult life experience. After looking around for the different meditation technics, Sahaja Meditation seemed the most suitable and accessible.

At my first session i had a very strong emotional reaction. I felt a lot of sadness and i couldn’t help myself crying. I also experienced some powerful physical stimuli. I went on with the weekly sessions for a while. The physical stimuli diminished somwhat but not the emotional responses.
I was so overwhelmed by sadness that i couldn’t get myself to the sessions anymore, because i didn’t want to break down in front of others. And it was also hindering my daily life.

It’s been a month or two and when i found this site i thought i should try Sahaja Meditation again as my emotions were now quiet.
Yesterday i started the first lesson. Once again i was overwhelmed by emotions and submerged by sadness. The physical stimuli were less though. But the emotional response doesn’t limit itself to the meditation session. It lasted all day long ’till now.

Does anyone have experienced this as well? What should i make of it? It’s very tiring and doesn’t alway come handy in the daily occupations. Should i continue the course?
I’m a bit puzzled and lost here.

Thank you for reading.

Dear friend,

Yes, we have heard of similar reactions, not quite that extreme though. What you are describing suggests that something happened to you before, that is still very much affecting your system and your left channel – some very traumatic experience, and even thought it happened in the past, it looks like this experience is so much present for you still, that it is not allowing you to move forward.

Of course, we do not want you to become less functional than you are, that is not the purpose of meditation by any chance. In general, we have seen these reactions improve with time with the people who wrote about them before, however, it is up to you, and only up to you to decide whether to continue, for how long to try, and when to stop if it does not work for you.

Something you could try and see whether it helps, is to do some of the treatments for the left side, you can try listening to the sanskrit prayer here:

and combine it with some of these clearing techniques:http://www.onlinemeditation.or…..t-channel/

Especially, try using the candle light to clear the left channel by placing right hand on the ground and the left hand open on your lap and towards a candle.

See whether that helps.

Another thing I would highly recommend to do is to contact your local sahaja yoga instructors and talk to them. There are other things they can suggest and perhaps help you out with in terms of energy flow, which are a bit difficult to explain in writing but quite easy to show in person.

I really hope that things work out for you and wish you all the best,

Dear Mar’yana,

Thank you for your reply. I will certainly try what you advised. I’d rather continue meditation that quit on such an experience with it. I really do believe it can bring some good and peace of mind.
It might sound strange but it kind of reinsuring to hear that i’m not the only one experiencing such an emotional reaction after starting with Sahaja meditation.

Thank you.
