Hello everyone

I am new to the forum and have  been meditating for last 2 months.

I started meditation so that i can concentrate on my studies and stop my wondering thoughts.

Though i am able to concentrate well, when i meditate, which i do early morning….but when i sit for studies,i really find difficult to focus.

So ultimately i see ..meditation is not doing any good to me.

I am confused.Someone  please advise,where am i going wrong.

Regards

Hi Anushka,

It is a good sign that you are able to quiet your mind while you meditate. As you continue to meditate you will find it easier and easier to stop your thoughts when you are going about your day (for example when you are studying). Gradually you will find that your attention will automatically improve. A couple of things you can do which will help this along – have you tried footsoaking? Footsoaking is very good to cool down the chakras which get overheated when we are thinking too much. (Details on how to footsoak are here: http://www.freemeditation.com/……aking.gif). Also you said you are meditating early in the morning – that’s great. It will also help if you can try to meditate for 10 minutes or so in the evening as well. This will allow you to get rid of all the stress, noise, anxiety, etc which you might have accumulated throughout the day.

Other things which are not directly related to meditation which can help are to limit the time you spend at the computer – or if you need to use the computer to study, limit how much “surfing” you do while you are at the computer (check email, facebook, etc less frequently). This will also help your attention. Also you can always take a 2 minute meditation break if you find you are studying and just not able to conentrate.

Hope this helps. Happy studying :)

Sarah

Thank You Sarah for your suggestions.

I’ll definately try footsoaking.I have never heard of it before.

I am badly addicted to internet, hope with meditation i will be able to control this addiction.

Your post has definately restored my belief in Meditation.

Regards

Anushka
