Sit upright and relaxed, cross-legged, on the floor. If you choose to sit on a chair, place your feet a little apart from each other, without shoes. Rest your hands palms open and upward on your lap.

Place the right hand on the lower portion of your abdomen and repeat the following affirmation for 6 times:
“Mother, please give me the pure knowledge”

Place the right hand on the upper portion of your abdomen and repeat the following affirmation for 10 times:
“Mother, I am my own master (guru)”

We would like to introduce you a very simple but effective Sahaj technique which you can easily use as a support to your regular meditations. This technique is called foot soaking. Foot soaking is a Sahaja Meditation technique which many people will recognize from everyday life. Quite simply it is the Sahaja Meditation version of putting the feet in a bowl (or foot spa) of warm water as a way of relaxing after a tiring day. It is best done in the evening, and the main difference in Sahaja terms is that salt is added to the water (to represent the earth element). In this way we use all the elements – fire (with the candle), air, water and earth. Shri Mataji has recommended that anyone serious about progressing in Sahaja Meditation should foot soak every night.
