To establish your self mastery, distance yourself from wordily desires. Desires pull you away from present moment. Desires binds yo to the past and to the future. You are in the present. Be free from all the bondage. Begin life a new and rise to oneness with your royal mother within, Kundalini.

Sit upright and relaxed, cross-legged, on the floor. If you choose to sit on a chair, place your feet a little apart from each other, without shoes. Rest your hands palms open and upward on your lap.

Foot soaking

We would like to introduce you a very simple but effective Sahaj technique which you can easily use as a support to your regular meditations. This technique is called foot soaking. Foot soaking is a Sahaja Meditation technique which many people will recognize from everyday life. Quite simply it is the Sahaja Meditation version of putting the feet in a bowl (or foot spa) of warm water as a way of relaxing after a tiring day. It is best done in the evening, and the main difference in Sahaja terms is that salt is added to the water (to represent the earth element). In this way we use all the elements – fire (with the candle), air, water and earth. Shri Mataji has recommended that anyone serious about progressing in Sahaja Meditation should foot soak every night.

foot soaking

  1. Get a bowl and keep it exclusively for foot soaking. A plastic bowl will do. Fill it with enough lukewarm water to cover the ankles and add a handful of salt. Keep a jug of water and a towel beside you.
  2. Sit quietly for a few minutes just looking at the photograph of Shri Mataji. Then as you feel better close your eyes and turn your attention inward.
  3. Let your thoughts fade away. If thoughts come, do not follow them. Find the place between the thoughts and stay in the present.
  4. Keep your attention on the last chakra Sahasrara at the top of your head.
  5. If your attention is wandering or if your thoughts do not stop, say in your heart,
“Mother Kundalini, I forgive everyone, please make me thoughtless.”
  6. Meditate for about 10-15 minutes. Your meditation should be effortless and pleasant.
  7. After meditating, rinse your feet with the fresh water in the jug and dry your feet on the towel. Pour the water from the bowl into the toilet and rinse the bowl with fresh water.
